Drab to Fab Is Now B Corp Certified!
At Drab to Fab, we’ve always believed that landscaping is about more than just making outdoor spaces look beautiful. It’s about cultivating a healthier, more connected world, starting right here in San Diego. That’s why we’re proud to announce that
Drab to Fab has officially become a Certified B Corporation.
So, What Is a B Corp?
Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability. The certification is awarded by B Lab, a nonprofit that evaluates companies on how they treat their workers, customers, community, and the planet.
Some of the most recognizable names in the movement include Patagonia, Dr. Bronner’s, and TOMS. Now, Drab to Fab is joining their ranks—becoming one of only four landscaping companies in the U.S. to pursue this rigorous certification.
Why It Matters to Us
- People First: We’re formalizing our commitment to employee well-being, fair wages, and professional development. A healthy company culture helps us serve our clients better and build long-lasting relationships.
- Planet Forward: From eco-friendly materials to native planting and water-conscious designs, we take sustainability seriously. Becoming a B Corp strengthens our resolve to find new, innovative ways to shrink our footprint and protect local ecosystems.
- Purpose Driven: Every project is an opportunity to give back. We’re embedding social impact into our business model—supporting local communities, collaborating with ethical suppliers, and maintaining transparent business practices.
This is more than a certification. It’s a commitment to continuous improvement: to grow not just beautiful gardens, but a business that reflects our shared values.
A Personal Note from Our CSO
“This isn’t just about planting trees and mowing lawns. It’s about how we operate as a team, how we impact our community, and how we care for the planet. Becoming a B Corp means we’re holding ourselves to a higher standard. And we’re doing it together—with you.”

The Journey So Far
Our path to certification has been guided by Maria McDonald, a sustainability expert and founder of a B Corp coaching firm. Maria and our CEO first worked together at United By Blue, a mission-driven company that removed over 1 million pounds of trash from waterways in 2019. That experience helped shape the ethical foundation of Drab to Fab—and inspired the mission we uphold today.
With Maria’s help, we’ve reviewed everything from our hiring practices to our energy usage. And we’re just getting started. Becoming a B Corp means every team member’s voice matters, and every client helps us build a more just and sustainable future.

When you work with Drab to Fab, you’re not just investing in your garden, you’re investing in a better way to do business. You’re supporting:

Growing a Better World, One Garden at a Time
We're proud to be leading the charge in our industry. Out of over 642,000 landscaping businesses in the U.S., only a handful are certified B Corps. We’re working to change that, starting right here in San Diego.
Together, we’re proving that beauty, sustainability, and integrity can thrive side by side.
